Virtual Surgical Planning and Three-Dimensional Printing for Reconstruction of Mandibular Defect by Fibula Free Flap: A Case Report

نویسندگان

چکیده

Reconstruction using osteocutaneous fibular free flap after radical resection of oral cancer with mandibular invasion and segmental mandibulectomy is the gold standard treatment. Recent technological advances have made virtual surgical planning threedimensional printing incorporating computer-aided design modeling possible, thereby shortening ischemic time enabling more sophisticated reconstruction. We report a successful case this technique.

Three-Dimensional Accuracy of Virtual Planning and Surgical Navigation for Mandibular Reconstruction With Free Fibula Flap.

PURPOSE Although free fibula flaps are widely used for mandibular reconstruction, their 3-dimensional position is difficult to control during conventional surgery. We aimed to improve this process by using computer-aided design (CAD) and surgical navigation. PATIENTS AND METHODS We retrospectively reviewed 29 benign tumor patients who underwent primary unilateral mandibular reconstruction wit...

prefabricated free fibula flap for reconstruction of a maxillary defect: a case report

the present article describes a case of prosthetic rehabilitation with the new technique of prefabricated osteo-cutaneous free fibula flap for reconstructing a maxillary defect which had resulted from ameloblastoma. the fibula and a cuff of 6-8 mm were prepared with its pedicle intact. the bone flap was left in place with its pedicle intact for 2 to 3 months; the skin graft and the flap were fr...

Step-by-step mandibular reconstruction with free fibula flap modelling

The functional and aesthetic outcomes after segmental mandibular resection are closely related to the technique used during mandibular reconstruction with bone graft. The fibula free flap approach allows the possibility of using bone with/without skin for restoring the defect. Here, we aimed to establish the preplating technique for oromandibular reconstruction in a step-by-step fashion, based ...
